Character Creation
From Project Bob
Basic Character Creation
This is the first step in a very long and continuously rewarding character system. Do not be overwhelmed with the amount of information thrown at you all at once. The MUD has a very forgiving character creation system where it is all but impossible to "break" your character. Nearly every decision can be changed and remade. We will cover the different methods of this in a later chapter.
Your first choice in character creation is your race. Currently the races are organized into Good, Neutral, & Evil alignments. The race you choose in creation is totally OOC (out of character) and has no affect on any type of alignment or character choice in game. You will be able to choose an IC (in character) race later on for Roleplaying purposes if you desire. By typing the race name it will give you a brief description of the race along with Stat Specialties, Attribute Bonuses and all Racial Abilities. You can also type table to view a quick listing of all the races and their stat bonuses for easy comparison. An easy to follow sheet with all the available Races and Skills is listed in the Race Guide.
- NOTE: It is generally a wise idea to choose a race with Attribute bonuses and racial abilities that will complement the types of skills you wish to learn. You can however change your race quite easily later in game.
Once you have picked your race, you are asked to choose a class. Classes are quick generic sets of skills and stat bonuses that make the rest of character creation quick and easy. They are organized into Melee, Magic, and Other type classes. By typing the class name you are presented with the class Focal Attribute, Skill Set, as well as Combat Stat Bonuses. If you wish to have better control of your character and what skills and stat bonuses you receive there is a custom option. This is for more advanced users and is strongly recommended to get the most out of your character. New players can use the class system to get their character going quickly. You can later Remake and create a Custom class to further customize your character to your needs.
This wraps up the Basic Character Creation. We will outline the Custom character creation in the following section.

Custom Classes
When creating a custom class its important to understand the benefits of having a skill group in the primary or secondary skill slots (See: skill full ingame). A bonus to your total skill (See: Skill ingame) is given to your primary group, which is greater than the secondary groups, which is in turn greater than any other groups you have learned. So what are the benefits of extra skill in your groups? Twofold; many groups have innate ability boosts which can be viewed by typing skill affect in game(having more skill in a group increases these bonuses slightly), but more importantly techs and spells used in that group will have a bonus applied to its level. The commands abil new and activate will list available techs/spells and the current level at which you use them. Generally, every point of skill in a group will raise the level of associated spells/techs by 2(assuming you have bought the perks to boost that spell/tech).
(opinion)Many groups do not offer considerable bonuses at higher skill. It is strongly suggested that your weapon and most used spell groups be placed in the primary slot. Backup spells /armsmaster /stealth /and dodge are suggested for the secondary slots if you plan on using them. (/opinion)
